Reggie from Huddersfield waits patiently
March 11, 2018Spring returns to Brown Knowl
April 23, 2018From our country drives manager who’s had a cracking day out to Lake Vyrnwy,
an hour’s drive away from the Sandstone Trail Cottages. The lake, which is
actually a reservoir, was suitably enigmatic in today’s misty weather.
Across the dam is the Artisans coffee shop and bicycle hire establishment
which does an outstandingly moist and tasty carrot cake –
http://www.artisans-lakevyrnwy.co.uk/ . (On a better day a cycle ride
around the lake would have been in order). And in the Artisans carpark is
an RSPB bird watching cabin where feeders provide a great attraction to
feathered (and not so feathered) friends. The return via
Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant with its pretty church where Bishop Morgan
translated the Bible into Welsh gave another stop off point before crossing
over the hills on single track roads to Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog. This
village in the Ceiriog valley boasts one of Wales top 50 restaurants, the
Hand. A superb lunch of slow cooked ox cheek with dauphinoise potatoes
finished the trip off nicely. Just one of our many tour suggestions ready
for you to discover at the Sandstone Trail Cottages.
